January - March 2006

Had a wonderful time at the OMHC banquet at the Holiday Inn in Oshawa. Markie and Rex did us proud winning Champion Hi pt Mare and Gelding titles! Also proud of the kids and their year end awards.

The CMHA Convention in Edmonton, Alberta was a good time. David and I had a wonderful visit with our friends, Lyle and Cindy Dietz, Coulee Bend Morgans. Lyle drove us all over the country side and we saw lots of beautiful Morgans!

Off to the Can-Am during March Break in London, ON. to promote our favorite breed! Lisa assisted Laurie Willert in showing Whistler's Beam Dreamin' to the audience. AND....David has the opportunity to ride The Corsican Bay. It was a cold and blowy day, but David and Cork trotted up a storm of their own down the road. He wasn't going to let a little bit of wind stop him.

Spring, 2006

In May, we were delighted to take Frankie to the Uxbridge Horseman's Trade Show in Uxbridge. They were set up in a large outdoor pen and drew a large crowd especially after his driving demo. I could have sold a few "Frankie's" that day!

We delivered Kasey to Greg & Holly McHugh's MCH Morgan Farm at Easter for breeding to their stallion, Up Hyre Advantage. We can't wait to see what the end results will be! She is due at the end of March, 2007.

Spring training also began and Markie & Rex got busy getting back into condition. Lessons also began which meant Frankie and OV had to get back into shape too! We're lucky to have a nice big field to ride/drive around which helps put the miles on them and they don't get bored!

Nancy was now busy with lessons and working with her students in addition to her own kids and neice/nephew.

We also welcomed MCH Royal to the barn for training and to do a little showing for owner's Greg & Holly McHugh.

It is with sadness that on May 9th of this year, we had put down our foundation mare, Acoma Morningstar due to colic. It was a hard decision but at age 29, I wasn't going to let her suffer any longer. We all miss her terribly.

Summer 2006

We began our show season heading off the Penn-Ohio Morgan show in early July. This was our second trip to this show and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We took Markie, Rex and Royal and we're very proud of their performances. Rex was undefeated in pleasure driving and Markie came 2nd in her Amateur Mares class. Royal put is some solid rounds in some very deep classes and earned a 5th place in his Stallion/Gelding class.

The Ontario Morgan Horse Championship Classic was next and this is always a good show to attend. Rex, Markie and Courtney did extremely well in their respective halter & performance classes, but we are just beaming about how well Courtney did! She was the talk of the show. Thanks to Alycia for grooming at the show!

The PRE - CNE show went well despite being the hottest two days in 2006! Thank goodness the arena is air conditioned. Thanks to Naomi and Christi for helping out at the show.

Looking forward to a few fall fairs now.

We enjoyed a visit from our friends again from Germany who are quite enthusiastic about Morgans and learning a little more about saddle seat riding. They own horses in Germany and ride dressage but Penny & Isabella loved having the chance to ride a Morgan in a cut-back saddle. See you next summer !
