Date: Tue, 28 Oct 2014 18:05:54 +0000
HI Gary – will you please send out to the associations that you have
contact with. We are looking for one representative from each
Kawartha Highlands Signature Site Provincial Park staff has begun the
planning for some priority projects in the park and would like to
invite you to become familiar with these projects during a
pre-consultation open house/work shop.
Since approval in 2008, the Kawartha Highland Signature Site Park
Management Plan has provided guidance and direction for the park’s
management. The implementation priorities (Sec. 10.0) outline a need
for additional supporting plans related to land management,
science and information and operational processes.
As we move forward to finalize an operations plan, we require your public input regarding:
1) The development of a parking strategy (existing use).
2) Backpacking trails including additional campsites and parking.
3) Backcountry Cabins including need for additional parking.
The open house/workshop will consist of a hour long presentation
followed by a poster session. Each participant will receive a
work book to share their ideas and opinions. These workbooks will
be used to consider options and determine the public’s opinions for
each of the three proposed implementation priorities.
By this invitation you are invited to attend at the below location.

We have observations of that
meeting. We will try and secure copies. It is our understanding that
there was little, if any, formal discussion of the Carchacoma parking
lot issues. That email was forwarded to all the local cottage association presidents. Copy on file.
April 2 2015 SGKH secretary forwarded a powerpoint presentation made to them by Paul Smith at their AGM in Peterborough.
Please see the conclusions he reaches, (line 2 highlighted), on Page 42. quoted
"Existing Parking Feedback
General support for proposed existing parking lot proposals.
Favour for Catchacoma expansion rather than Gold Lake.
Many like idea of separating camper and access parking at Anstruther Lake.
Main concerns are impacts of development of the natural environment, and private and tenured land enjoyment.
Much mention of day-use fees but no obvious support for one way or the other. "
Discussed this 22 Ap 2015 with Paul Smith.
This is NOT a conclusion. It is a digestion of comments received at the Nov. workshop.
